Relationship problems
Problems with communication, intimacy, commitment, assertiveness, and other problems, including those caused by bringing old family scripts of abuse and neglect into current relationships. The problem may affect finding a relationship or making a relationship work
Depression
Chronic sadness or else apathy and inability to feel pleasure or excitement. Both are accompanied by such symptoms such as pessimism, guilt, discouragement, unworthiness, irritability, insomnia, abnormal eating, a sense of failure, low energy , or a sense of overwhelm. Sometimes it's been life-long, sometimes it's a reaction to a loss, and sometimes it has a biological cause. In one form, the individual experiences extreme highs as well as lows.
Anxiety
Tension, worry, self-consciousness, shame, panics, phobias, and stress. Some anxiety is experienced as a tendency to worry about things, to chronically ask "what if?" Sometimes anxiety is not experienced directly but known mainly through symptoms such as addictions, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, phobias, or medical problems.
Post-traumatic symptoms
Emotional reactivity and vulnerability and/or numbness, flashbacks or dreams of the trauma, mental distress, emotional and physiological reactions to reminders of the trauma, avoidance of reminders, detachment and isolation, shut-down emotions, heightened vigilance and startle response, insomnia, poor concentration. Childhood trauma can have a dramatic effect on personality development, causing depression, anxiety, sense of unworthiness, and symptoms that often get wrongly diagnosed as personality disorders and even psychosis.
Core Unworthiness
Sometimes experienced as inadequacy, deficiency, inferiority, shame, or just plain badness. Unworthiness undermines confidence, self-esteem, and self-assertion; it often leads us to sabotage success or to work compulsively to prove ourselves; it causes anxiety, fear of exposure, and self-consciousness. This problem always has roots in childhood neglect and abuse.
Psychosomatic problems
Stress-related medical problems, symptoms for which no medical cause can be found, chronic pain, insomnia, chronic tension and stress, and medical problems that do not respond to medical treatment. Repressed anxiety and emotional issues often get expressed through physical symptoms.
Focus, memory, follow-through and organization problems (usually ADD or ADHD)
Trouble focusing, changing focus, organizing, remembering, and following through; usually hyperactivity, mood swings, impulsiveness, relationship problems, and underachievement.
